I am Dr. Christina Chick, the postdoc fellow. In addition to seeing clients at Mind-Body Care, I also hold an appointment as a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University School of Medicine. At Stanford, I conduct research to better understand how conditions such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD affect how people think, sleep, and, of course, feel. Using my background in research, I am able to better understand the mechanisms of these conditions and identify the treatments that are most likely to offer relief. During my clinical training and research, I have had the privilege of working with a wide range of people, including adolescents, veterans, families, and older adults.
How I help
My guiding principle is that every one of my clients deserves to experience joy, meaning, connection, and fulfillment. Depression, anxiety, trauma, and challenging interpersonal dynamics can obscure and frustrate this pursuit. As a therapist, I partner with each of my clients to manage these obstacles and help them experience the fulfilling lives that they deserve.
I love working with people who want more out of their lives. Often, this includes people who are in a transition–whether that be with respect to career, relationship, divorce, parenthood, or otherwise. One of the most exciting transitions in life is adolescence. I have tremendous respect for teenagers, who often do not get the credit that they deserve for their intelligence, creativity, and heart. Helping parents and teens work toward a better relationship is deeply fulfilling for me. I also love working with couples: One of the most challenging pursuits in life is to partner with another person, and the most profound personal and collective growth can come out of relationship conflict, with the proper coaching.
I have the utmost respect for each of my clients, who are willing to forgo the patterns and habits that they know in favor of a more profound sense of fulfillment and self-actualization. Let us work together to help you get more out of your life.
